See the tidy before it happens.

Owlsort sorts the screenshots, PDFs, installers and archives piling up in Downloads and Desktop. Drag a slider to watch your own files move into place. Nothing is touched until you press the button, and any run can be undone.

Three calm steps.

  1. 1

    Check

Owlsort looks through the folders you choose and shows, live, which folder it is walking and what the rules have picked up.

  2. 2

    Preview

See your own files flying into their folders as you drag. Pull several source folders into one tidy, or set one aside.

  3. 3

    Tidy, or undo

One click moves everything. Every run is one line in History, and the latest can be undone back to the exact original places.

Quiet, and careful.

  • Preview before anything moves

The page shows what will happen to your actual files first. Until you confirm, nothing is moved, renamed or deleted.

  • Works on the first launch

Ready-made rules for screenshots, PDFs, installers and archives. No setup, no rule writing.

  • Several folders at once

Desktop, Downloads and Documents can be tidied in a single run. Each source is a small pile of its own files you switch on or off.

  • Undo any run

History keeps one line per run. Undo the latest and every file goes back where it was.

  • Background tidy, politely

When a rule tidies something in the background, a small bubble under the menu bar icon tells you, with an Undo button.

  • Protected by default

Project folders and freshly created folders are skipped, so a broad rule cannot pull a file out of something you are working on.

Starter rules that find something on day one.

Screenshots are recognised by their names in more than thirty languages and from about twenty-five tools, so the first check usually has something to show.

  • ScreenshotsFrom macOS and popular capture tools → Pictures / Screenshots
  • PDFsEvery PDF → Documents / PDF
  • Installersdmg, pkg, iso, exe, msi, apk and more → Installers
  • Archiveszip, rar, 7z, tar and friends → Archives

Your files never leave this Mac.

  • Files are read and moved locally. No AI, no cloud analysis.
  • Optional iCloud sync carries your rules only, never your files.
  • Anonymous usage events carry no file names, paths or rule contents, and can be switched off in Settings.

Try it for 14 days. Then buy it once.

Everything is unlocked during the trial. Purchase happens inside the app, and the licence is yours for good.

Questions

Does Owlsort use AI?

No. It matches file names, kinds and dates with rules on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded for analysis.

Can I undo a tidy?

Yes. Every run is recorded as one line in History, and the latest run can be undone in one click.

Which folders does it look at?

Only the folders you choose. Desktop, Downloads and Documents are one click away. Project folders are protected by default.

What do I need?

A Mac with macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon or Intel.

What does the anonymous usage data contain?

Event names such as “first launch”, the app version, the macOS major version and your language, with a random install ID. Never file names, paths or rule contents.
